SourceCode Transforms Financial Reporting with the Aid of MindStream using OneStream

SourceCode

Since its inception in 1992, SourceCode has built a reputation as a trailblazer in custom and co-designed infrastructure solutions. With thousands of innovative implementations and more than a million edge devices distributed, the company has refined its engineering, manufacturing, and business processes to serve increasing market demand.

As the business grew, however, its Excel-based financial reporting approach began to show clear limitations. SourceCode needed a more advanced and comprehensive solution that could reduce risk, streamline consolidation, and support future business expansion. MindStream Analytics partnered with the company to modernize its reporting environment with OneStream.

The result was a more secure, scalable, and automated finance platform designed to support both current reporting needs and long-term growth.

The Challenge:

SourceCode had been relying heavily on Excel for its financial reporting processes. While Excel had served as a foundational tool, the limitations became more serious as the company evolved. The organization faced increasing concerns around data security, manual effort, integration complexity, and reporting reliability.

These issues made it harder to support management reporting, GAAP reporting, bank reporting, and acquisitions through a single dependable process.

Reliance on Excel introduced data security and integrity concerns in financial consolidation and reporting.
There was ongoing risk of Excel file corruption or irretrievable data that could disrupt reporting activities.
Integrating newly acquired businesses into the Excel-driven process was cumbersome and time-consuming.
Meeting management, GAAP, and bank reporting needs required heavy manual effort that increased the risk of inaccuracies.
Intercompany eliminations were also handled manually, which slowed consolidation and added avoidable complexity.

The Solution

OneStream Diamond Partner

MindStream Analytics addressed these issues with a strategic OneStream implementation designed to centralize and automate key financial reporting functions. The team created a consolidated common chart of accounts, making it easier to integrate multiple trial balances into OneStream and preparing SourceCode for faster future acquisitions.

OneStream was also configured to support currency translation, stronger security by function, and flexible reporting for internal management, external GAAP, and bank reporting needs. In addition, custom reports were designed to pull data directly from OneStream on demand, eliminating the need for recurring manual report creation.

To further streamline the close and consolidation cycle, intercompany transactions were configured to auto-eliminate upon consolidation, and a comprehensive cash flow statement was built inside the platform for deeper financial insight.

Key solution components included:

Created a consolidated common chart of accounts to support seamless integration of multiple trial balances into OneStream.
Prepared the organization for faster and smoother integration of future acquisitions.
Configured OneStream for currency translation, stronger data security, and reporting by function.
Enabled internal management, external GAAP, and bank reporting through a more structured platform.
Designed custom on-demand reports that extract data directly from OneStream and eliminate manual report creation.
Automated intercompany eliminations during consolidation to reduce manual work and improve process speed.
Built a comprehensive cash flow statement in OneStream to provide more complete financial visibility.

The Result

The transition to OneStream transformed SourceCode’s financial reporting environment. Manual processes associated with consolidations and internal and external reporting were removed, improving both efficiency and confidence in the numbers being produced.

The move also significantly reduced the potential for human error and system-related issues that can arise in spreadsheet-driven environments. With a more scalable and acquisition-ready platform in place, SourceCode is better equipped to integrate future businesses and support continued growth with stronger financial controls.

Overall, the project helped shift reporting from a manual, risk-prone process to a more secure, automated, and strategically useful finance capability.

Manual consolidation and reporting processes were eliminated across key internal and external reporting activities.
The risk of human error and spreadsheet-related system issues was reduced significantly.
