MEPPI Selects OneStream to Replace an Outdated Planning Platform

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI), a division of Mitsubishi Electric, is a global manufacturer of switchgear and switchboard products serving the manufacturing and technology sectors. With solutions spanning gas circuit breakers, insulation systems, ozone water treatment, transformers, and generator excitation products, MEPPI needed a more effective planning platform to support its evolving business.

After more than a decade using Infor CPM, MEPPI recognized that its existing software was no longer meeting the company’s needs. MindStream Analytics led a structured vendor selection initiative that helped MEPPI evaluate its options and ultimately choose OneStream as the best-fit solution for transforming its planning process.

The Challenge:

MEPPI had hoped Infor CPM would streamline planning, but over time the environment became cumbersome, slow, and difficult to use for reporting. The software required too much manual intervention, and the reliance on workarounds created disjointed models and unnecessary delays. As a result, administration had become difficult and frustrating for the team.

The urgency increased when Infor ceased support for CPM. MEPPI was now relying on unsupported planning software that created both operational risk and growing maintenance frustration. The company needed a clearer path forward to replace the legacy system with something more modern, usable, and sustainable.

MEPPI also needed a structured way to make the right decision. It was not just about choosing software, it was about understanding timelines, prioritizing requirements, evaluating vendor fit, validating services and pricing, and making a confident recommendation for the F2023 planning process.

Infor CPM had become cumbersome, slow, and difficult for reporting and administration.
Manual intervention and complex workarounds created disjointed planning models and unnecessary delays.
Support for the existing CPM platform had ended, increasing risk and urgency.
The company needed a structured way to evaluate vendors, timelines, pricing, and implementation fit.
MEPPI needed a future-state solution that was easier to use, lower maintenance, and better aligned with planning requirements.

The Solution

MEPPI partnered with MindStream Analytics to conduct a vendor selection initiative focused on the company’s F2023 planning process. MindStream first worked to establish a realistic selection timeline, then took a deep dive into MEPPI’s business processes, workflows, and planning needs to build a clear picture of both the challenges and the opportunities for improvement.

Working closely with the MEPPI team, MindStream helped finalize and prioritize the key requirements that would be used to evaluate potential vendors. The team then guided the RFP process and supported evaluation of four major platforms: OneStream, Tagetik, Oracle, and Anaplan. MindStream facilitated software demonstrations, validated vendor quotes and implementation timelines, and helped create the internal approval materials needed to support decision-making.

After a detailed evaluation, MindStream presented findings to senior MEPPI management and recommended OneStream as the ideal fit based on functionality, pricing, ease of administration, and ability to meet MEPPI’s specific requirements. OneStream also stood out for its out-of-the-box functionality, user-friendly design, Microsoft Office integration, flexible single-platform model, and strong customer success track record.

Key solution components included:

Defined timelines, business requirements, and selection priorities for the planning software search.
Guided the RFP process and evaluated OneStream, Tagetik, Oracle, and Anaplan.
Facilitated demos, validated quotes and implementation services, and supported internal approval materials.
Recommended OneStream based on functionality, usability, maintenance profile, and fit with MEPPI’s needs.
Helped senior management make a more informed and confident platform decision backed by structured analysis.

The Result

Through a detailed and disciplined evaluation process, MEPPI selected OneStream as its preferred planning platform. The company gained stronger internal alignment around requirements, costs, timelines, and solution fit, making the final decision far more confident than a less structured software search would have allowed.

OneStream emerged as the highest-scoring vendor and gave MEPPI a clear path away from unsupported legacy software toward a more modern, maintainable planning environment. Its robust out-of-the-box capabilities, low-maintenance profile, Office integration, and single-platform flexibility positioned it as the strongest option for both immediate planning needs and future growth.

Overall, MindStream helped MEPPI reduce risk, simplify vendor selection, and move toward a planning platform better suited to the business. The project did not focus on implementation itself, but on making sure MEPPI chose the right long-term solution with clarity and confidence.

Completed a structured vendor evaluation with stronger internal alignment and decision support.
Selected OneStream as the top-scoring solution for MEPPI’s planning goals.
Reduced risk tied to unsupported legacy planning software.
Positioned the organization for faster time-to-value with lower maintenance complexity.
Created a clearer path to a more modern, flexible, and user-friendly planning environment.
