MacLean-Fogg, a family-owned manufacturing enterprise with diverse business groups, needed to modernize aging financial systems that were no longer fully supported by Oracle. The company was running Hyperion Financial Management, Enterprise Performance Management Architect, and Financial Reporting on version 11.1.2.4, which had fallen into sustaining support, while its operating systems were also no longer aligned with current standards.
Although MacLean-Fogg had longer-term goals of eventually moving to a cloud-based solution, the immediate priority was a stable and supportable upgrade. MindStream Analytics delivered an Oracle Hyperion modernization that helped preserve financial close and reporting continuity while preparing the organization for future evolution.
The Challenge:
MacLean-Fogg’s existing Hyperion environment created both technical and operational urgency. HFM, EPMA, and Financial Reporting were running on older versions that were no longer fully supported by Oracle, which increased long-term risk and limited the company’s ability to rely on a modern support path. At the same time, the underlying operating systems were not compliant with the latest standards, adding another layer of pressure to upgrade.
The situation was made more complex by business change. MacLean-Fogg had decided to divest a portion of its business, MacLean Power Systems, which introduced added technical and operational requirements during the upgrade effort. The company needed to modernize its environment without disrupting financial operations and while also supporting the needs of the divested business.
MacLean-Fogg needed a partner that could manage installation, configuration, testing, and transition support carefully enough to keep close and reporting activities stable throughout the project while also creating a stronger systems foundation for the future.
The Solution
To address the urgent need for a modernized financial systems environment, MindStream Analytics installed and configured version 11.2 of HFM, EPMA, and Financial Reporting in both development and production environments. The work was designed to integrate smoothly with MacLean-Fogg’s existing infrastructure while minimizing disruption to critical finance operations.
Throughout the project, MindStream provided dedicated testing support and updated critical artifacts to help ensure a successful rollout of the new software version. This careful, end-to-end approach helped MacLean-Fogg validate performance, compatibility, and continuity across the associated financial applications and processes.
MindStream also executed a separate installation and configuration effort to support the divested MacLean Power Systems business. After the upgrade, MacLean-Fogg transitioned to MindStream’s AppCare service so the company could continue receiving the support and expertise needed to keep its financial systems operating smoothly.

The Result
MacLean-Fogg successfully completed the upgrade to version 11.2 of HFM, EPMA, and Financial Reporting through close collaboration between internal teams and MindStream’s experts. Rigorous testing validated the performance and compatibility of the relevant artifacts, helping ensure the upgraded environment was stable and reliable.
With the new financial systems in place, MacLean-Fogg was able to continue using HFM for close and financial reporting processes without disruption. The dedicated work supporting the divested business also helped ensure MacLean Power Systems had the installation and configuration it needed as part of the separation.
Overall, the project resolved MacLean-Fogg’s immediate need for a more supportable financial systems foundation while also positioning the company for future modernization, including its longer-term cloud aspirations. The result was a more stable environment, preserved operational continuity, and a stronger platform for what comes next.
